Violins are pretty nice. If you treat them well, they will need very little maintenance. By following these 7 care tips, your violin will be smiling.
Avoid leaving the violin in the following conditions:
a) In the car or in the trunk on a hot/humid day
b) Direct sunlight
c) Extreme temperatures (over 100°F)
d) Extreme humidity
Don’t allow the violin to be thrown around (even when in the case)
Avoid touching the bow hair
Loosen the bow after each use
Remove the shoulder rest off the violin before closing the case
Wipe off the rosin (white stuff) from the violin strings after using the violin
Don’t over tighten the bow: just enough so your pickie can fit through at the middle of the bow
If these care tips are followed, the only thing we'd recommend is to change the strings every 2 years. That way, the violin sounds beautiful.
